PDO mono threads are a versatile treatment that can be customised to address individual concerns and goals. The threads can be used on various areas of the face, including the forehead, temples, cheeks, jawline and neck.

More about the treatment

What does the procedure involve?

The PDO mono thread procedure involves inserting these fine threads into the skin using a needle. Medical grade high-strength topical numbing may be applied prior to treatment commences. Once inserted, the threads act as a scaffold that supports and tightens sagging skin while also stimulating the body's natural collagen production. Over time, the threads dissolve, leaving behind a network of new collagen fibres that help improve skin elasticity and firmness.

How many sessions will I need?

One session per area is generally sufficient for a period of 12 months, as collagen production continues during this time. With results lasting between 12- 18 months (depending on the individual), it is recommended to return after 12 months for another treatment. However, this may vary depending on the individual.

Is there any downtime?

PDO thread treatment is minimally invasive and requires little to no downtime. The procedure can typically be performed with minimal discomfort, and most patients are able to resume their normal activities shortly after treatment. Some redness, swelling, or bruising may occur at the insertion sites, but these side effects are usually mild and temporary.

What aftercare is involved?

You will need to ensure you take the necessary precautions to keep the area clean and dry to prevent infection. Application of ice to the area will provide comfort and reduce the chances of bruising. Avoid engaging in strenuous physical activity and do not massage or touch the area unless instructed.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do PDO thread lifts work?

PDO thread lifts involve the insertion of fine, absorbable polydioxanone threads into the subdermal layer of the skin using small needles. These threads attach to the skin tissue and are then pulled back to lift and smooth the face. Over time, the threads will dissolve, but the collagen that has been stimulated in their place helps to maintain the lifting effect.

  • What areas can be treated with PDO threads?

PDO threads are commonly used to treat several areas of the face including the eyebrows, cheeks, jowls and neck. They can also be used on the body in areas like the abdomen, arms and thighs to improve skin laxity.

  • How long do the results of a PDO thread lift last?

The results of a PDO thread lift can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months. The longevity of the effects depends on the type of threads used, the area treated and the individual's age, lifestyle and skin condition.
