Skin Needling in Mudgeeraba
What is Skin Needling?
My skin needling treatment in Mudgeeraba involves creating temporary microscopic channels in your skin with the use of a specialised device. These tiny punctures stimulate tissue regeneration through a process called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) which aims to visibly improve the structure and function of the skin. Collagen is a vital protein that provides structural support to the skin, helping to keep it firm, smooth and youthful-looking. As we age, collagen production naturally decreases, leading to the formation of wrinkles, fine lines and sagging skin. By creating controlled injuries to the skin through microneedling, the body's healing response is activated, encouraging the production of new collagen fibres. This process targets the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, sun spots, enlarged pores, stretch marks and hyperpigmentation. The procedure can be performed on various areas of the face and body, including the cheeks, forehead, neck, decolletage and hands and can also be combined with other treatments, such as PRP therapy.

More about THIS treatment
What does the procedure involve?
The skin needling process typically begins with the application of a topical numbing cream to minimise any discomfort during the procedure. The skin is then gently cleansed and a gel like substance is applied to the area that will be treated first. This is also where any additional treatment enhancement, such as injectable infusions, is commenced. The micro needling device is then gently pressed onto the skin, creating microscopic channels into the dermis, creating tiny punctures that trigger the skin's natural healing response. After the procedure, a relaxing, cooled face mask is applied to settle any inflammation and redness.
Is there any downtime?
One of the major advantages of skin needling is that it is a safe and minimally invasive procedure. The treatment is suitable for individuals of all skin types and tones, with minimal risk of adverse side effects. Downtime is typically minimal, with most patients experiencing mild redness and swelling that subsides within a few days. Patients can usually resume their normal activities shortly after the procedure, although it is important to follow post-care instructions provided by the skin care professional to ensure optimal results.
WHAT TO EXPECT
How many sessions will I need?
Treatment regimes will vary depending on the area/s and type of concern treated. Generally, you will need one session every month for three months after which a maintenance session every six months to ensure optimum results.
What aftercare is involved?
You will need to ensure you follow the instructions on the post-procedure take-home kit and apply all necessary soothing formulas. Refrain from using any other products, including cleansers, on your skin within the first 24 hours. In lieu of cleansing your skin, you may rinse with cool water as needed. Strictly avoid sun exposure the day of the procedure, as you will not be wearing sunscreen, and continue to minimise sun exposure for a further 72 hours post-procedure. Avoid strenuous exercise or excessive perspiration for 72 hours post-procedure, as excess blood flow and sweat can cause discomfort and irritation to compromised skin. Lastly avoid using any active skincare topical products, such as retinoids, vitamin C etc., for the first week after your skin needling treatment to reduce risk of irritation.
